Personal-loan eligibility is a lender's assessment of whether an application meets its requirements; it is not a promise of approval. Canadian lenders commonly review identity, income, address, banking, existing obligations, and other information needed for their decision. The exact process varies by lender.
For Ace of Loans, applicants must be at least 18, provide identification, and complete mandatory instant bank verification (IBV). Every application is reviewed, and approval and any particular amount are not guaranteed.
What does personal-loan eligibility mean?
Eligibility means that the lender reviews the completed application against its current lending criteria. It is different from an advertisement, pre-application checklist, approval, or final offer. A lender may approve an application, decline it, or offer an amount or terms different from those requested.
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) explains that lenders generally require evidence of regular income, a bank account, and a permanent address. Many lenders also consider debts and use a credit report. Those are general Canadian practices—not a statement that every lender uses the same criteria or process. See the FCAC's overview of personal loans in Canada.
What information do personal-loan lenders commonly request?
A lender needs enough accurate information to identify the applicant, assess repayment, and prepare any offer. Depending on the lender, the application may request contact and address details, identification, income and employment information, banking information, and information about current financial obligations.
Provide information only through the lender's official application and read the reason and consent shown for any verification step. Never assume that “online,” “instant,” or “paperless” means that no information will be checked. Our guide to loans without uploaded documents explains the difference between a digital process and a loan without verification.
What does Ace of Loans require to apply?
Ace of Loans requires applicants to be 18 or older, provide identification, and complete IBV. IBV is a mandatory part of the eligibility review. The official application presents the information requested and the consent needed to complete that verification.
Ace accepts requests for small personal loans from $250 to $1,250. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee approval, renewal, or a particular amount. Any offer depends on the completed eligibility review.
Does applying with Ace affect your credit score?
Ace of Loans does not request a hard or soft inquiry from Equifax or TransUnion. That precise distinction matters: Ace still reviews eligibility using the information and verification required in its digital process. “No Equifax or TransUnion inquiry” does not mean no review or guaranteed approval.
Other lenders may use a credit report or score, so check the process before submitting an application. Read our guide to no-credit-check loans in Canada for a fuller explanation.
Personal-loan application readiness checklist
This checklist helps you organize before opening an application. It runs only in your browser: it does not submit, transmit, or store your answers and does not estimate eligibility or approval odds.
Leave any item unchecked if it is not true or if you need more information. The official application and any resulting agreement—not this checklist—control the actual process and terms.
Can residents of every province and territory apply?
Ace of Loans accepts online applications from residents of every Canadian province and territory. That includes Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. Availability does not guarantee approval.
Consumer-protection rules and the offices responsible for questions can vary across Canada. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's directory of federal, provincial and territorial consumer affairs offices provides authoritative regional contacts.
What should you review if an offer is available?
Review the complete cost and payment obligation—not only the amount offered. Check the principal, annual percentage rate (APR), applicable fees, payment amount and frequency, payment dates, and total repayment before accepting. The maximum APR applicable to Ace of Loans products can reach up to 29%; the individual agreement states the actual terms that apply.
The FCAC recommends understanding the loan's terms and total cost before signing. Use our guides to understanding APR and reading a Canadian loan agreement as preparation, then rely on the agreement presented for the offer itself.
If approved, Ace sends funds by e-transfer. Funding may take from hours to days depending on processing and other circumstances, so do not treat a funding estimate as a guarantee.
When may a borrower be considered for renewal?
Borrowers with two or fewer payments remaining may be considered for renewal. Consideration is not approval, and a renewal is not guaranteed. Review any new offer as a separate borrowing decision, including its cost, payment schedule, and effect on your budget.
